It’s Christmas time, another year is almost gone so it should be a time for celebration. However, it doesn’t feel like it for some reason. Whether it’s the negative news been reported daily or lack of snow, it doesn’t feel very Christmassy.
Regardless, Christmas is upon us and soon we’ll be finishing work (and workouts) for the holidays. It’s a great time to relax with loved ones. We usually spend most of that time eating and drinking…and rightly so to be honest. The whole point of a holiday is to take some time off and enjoy ourselves. However, often people worry and feel guilty about their weight management at this time. But this period is only a week and a half long. How much weight can we really gain in this amount of time?
(Edit: OK I’ve just eaten half a tub of Celebrations myself, I take that back!)
But seriously, we are not going to put on that much weight over Christmas so I say treat yourself. Have a mince pie or 3. Have a Christmas coffee with whipped cream and all the mad toppings they put on it. Have a guilt free treat (within reason, of course).
We may have set goals this year that we didn’t achieve. Maybe it was to lose weight or muscle up. If we haven’t achieved it yet well it’s unlikely that we’ll achieve anything it within the next two weeks because these things take time. So, let it go and don’t feel bad about it. It’s likely to have been a long year, so put your feet up and unwind. The most important thing now is that we recover, recharge our batteries, and get ready for the coming year. While you relax and enjoy your time off, try figure out what you want to achieve next year. And make sure when the holidays are over, you are ready and motivated to work towards your goals.
Remember, if you’re unhappy about your weight, that it’s about how we look; it’s about how we feel. And it’s about time we felt Christmassy.
So, Merry Christmas and Happy Fitness!
